Kitesurfing is a very exciting, fun and fast-growing water sport that combines surfing with kites. Kitesurfing allows you to simply cruise along the water or with some practice enables you to perform jumps, reverse loops, turning manoeuvres and other freestyle tricks.
Kaliantan Beach is a windy stretch of white sand beach bordered by crystal clear blue water. On a low tide the lagoon conditions are perfect inside the reef for freestyle and freeriding with butter-flat water. On a higher tide when there’s a swell running “and there frequently is!” there are pumping waves outside on the reef which is perfect for wave riding enthusiasts . “It’s A Riders Paradise”
Our experienced and qualified IKO instructors utilize the latest up to date equipment and will ensure that you are safe, having fun and progress with every lesson. LEVEL 1 – ESSENTIAL BASIC KITING
This introductory course is designed to familiarize first time kiters with all the equipment needed, complete kite set-up & handling methods including understanding of the safety systems.
You will come away understanding the ‘wind window’ & kite flying dynamic’s, fly a 2-line trainer kite and finish by wearing the harness hooked into & flying a 4-line kite.
Essential knowledge of wind patterns and water conditions, then kite flying! Completing a beach launch and landing all under the safe control of your instructor. “Thumbs Up” means ready to launch. You will remember this for the rest of your life.
LEVEL 2 – WATER CONTROL (BODY DRAGGING & BOARD STARTS)
Taking your kitesurfing to the next level, this course consists of body dragging, kite launching, piloting one handed & board recovery, board positioning & water starts where you will learn how to water launch and park the kite safely in neutral above you then use it to move around in the water.
This is a lot of fun and body dragging includes moving upwind for board recovery, propelling left and right to fully understand the power zone.
After these exercise’s it’s all about adding the board, getting on the board and using it and the kite to get yourself up on the board and riding.
Remember you can use our trainer kites on the beach as much as you like for free!! ‘Practice makes perfect’
LEVEL 3 - RIDING
It’s time to bring all the training and instructions together. As your kitesurfing advances we’ll work on your ability to control your speed by edging, respecting the right of way rules among other kiters and focus on riding in any direction including upwind.

TASTER PACKAGE (LEVEL 1 +2)
Not sure if you want to commit for Level 1 + 2, but you would love to give it a go? This is the course for you. It takes only 3 hours to get a first taste of this amazing sport and decide whether it is ‘for you’ or not. During the intro course, you will go out with an instructor and have as much fun as possible, while covering the basics (pprox.. 1 hr on land and 2 hrs in the water). By the end of the course, you can continue and complete Level 1+2 by doing the remaining 3 hours of the course.
